WMH Auxiliary

Our hospital’s Auxiliary, close to 200 members strong, has been in existence in some form even before the hospital was christened in 1920. A group of women began raising money for a community hospital and eventually saw it built. Their fundraising continues and takes on many exciting forms — from the annual Mistletoe Ball to operating two second hand shops, the Other Shop in Honesdale and the Other Shop 2 in Hawley. Other events during the year have included tribute concerts and antique and garage sales. The Auxiliary also runs the hospital gift shop, The Gift Box.

Holiday Love Lites Honor and Remember 2023

Lights twinkling and sparkling honoring or memorializing loved ones now grace the trees outside Wayne Memorial Hospital. The annual Love Lites ceremony Monday evening December 4^th was hosted by the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary with more than 50 in attendance. The event included a blessing by Pastor Mary Bryant of Cold Spring Chapel, Pleasant Mount, remarks from hospital CEO Jim Pettinato and holiday music presentations by the Honesdale High School Chorus (pictured). Love Lites was launched in 1991 as a fundraiser and a way to bring the community together during the holiday season. A “Memory Book” listing all the names honored with lights can be found in the hospital lobby and on the hospital website, WMH Auxiliary | Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Several dozen people attended the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s annual Love Lites ceremony the evening of December 5^th. WMH Auxiliary Garden Tour

Location: Wayne County

Date: July 9, 2022

The owners of eight “magnificent gardens in full bloom” in Wayne County welcome visitors on a self-guided tour.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the tour. Includes maps, a program guide, and opportunities to talk with local gardeners.

Membership

Qualification for membership in the organization shall be in sympathy with the purposes of the organization and willingness to work towards its accomplishments. Prospective members are welcome at any meeting.

Here are the types of members in the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary

Active members shall pay annual dues of $5 per year and participate in the active service programs of the Auxiliary.
Associate members shall pay annual dues of $15 per year but shall not be required to actively participate.
Honorary members have served as active members of the Auxiliary for 35 years and may have the option of not paying dues.

Dues are $5 a year.
