(Honesdale, PA June 24, 2026)…Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) has shifted the focus of its annual community grants program to prioritize immediate, life saving measures by donating Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to local organizations. The hospital charged the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation, who supports the Hospital with collection and evaluation of the applications, to move away from its traditional model of distributing monetary mini-grants for general healthcare services, disease prevention, and wellness promotion. The hospital is now directly placing critical cardiac equipment into the community.
Eligible non-profits, community centers, and local organizations within the Wayne Memorial Health System service area are invited to submit a letter of request before the upcoming deadline on August 15, 2026. Please include the full legal name of the group or entity, physical address where the AED will be installed, a brief description of your organization’s primary function or community role, and a general estimate of the annual number of citizens served.
Applications are being reviewed by the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Community Grants Committee, which serves as the allocations group. Requests can be mailed to Wayne Memorial Health Foundation c/o WMH Community Relations 601 Park St. Honesdale, PA 18431 or emailed to allenma@wmh.org. By increasing the availability of AEDs, Wayne Memorial Hospital seeks to improve the overall health status of the communities served by the Health System.
