2025 Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Community Grants Available

(Honesdale, PA, May 8, 2025)… Applications are now being accepted for Wayne Memorial Health Foundation’s (WMHF) Community Grant Program. Non-profit groups that provide health-related programs may qualify for this year’s round of grants. Applications are being accepted from organizations whose focus includes health care-related services for injuries, disease prevention and treatment, and the promotion of good health and wellbeing. The service area includes programs for residents of Wayne and Pike Counties, the Greater Carbondale region of Lackawanna County and Forest City in Susquehanna County.

The Fair Hill Therapeutic Riding Center is one of twenty recipients of the 2024 Wayne Memorial Health Foundation’s Community Grant Program. A $1000 mini-grant was awarded to the non-profit organization supporting equine assisted learning and therapeutic horsemanship. At Fair Hill, programs are tailored to benefit participants struggling with emotional, social and cognitive needs, physical and mobility challenges, neurological functions, and trauma. The proven therapy provides interaction with a horse including riding or assisted riding, in addition to feeding, grooming, and other kinds of care. Research shows that interactions with a horse in a therapeutic setting creates a healing environment, healthy transitions, and positive differences.

A new program, Stable Moments, has been launched this year for children in foster care. Equine assisted learning along with trained mentors work together to improve the life course of children in foster care and build healthy transitions into adulthood. Stable Moments is a 10-month, weekly mentorship program where the children achieve individualized life goals through community mentorship. Stable Moments is a nationally recognized, evidence-based structured program to develop life skills in children with complex trauma needs.

Applicants must complete a WMHF program application that includes proof of their IRS 501(c)3 tax-exempt status; submission of the group’s non-discrimination policy; demonstration of non-duplication of services in the community; provision of a written statement of objectives, target population, anticipated benefits, activities and evaluation procedures.
