Midwife Lorraine Lamm comes To Wayne Memorial

Honesdale, PA (February 28, 2023)— The Women’s Health Center, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), is proud to announce that Lorraine Lamm, CNM, has joined its team of women’s healthcare providers. Lamm sees prenatal and gynecology patients at the Women’s Health Center’s Dingmans Ferry office in Pike County. She facilitates births at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s New Beginnings Birthing Suites in Honesdale.

Lamm has been a midwife since 2015. She most recently practiced at Long Island New York facilities — Katz Women’s Hospital at Long Island Jewish Center in Queens and Yonkers Community Health Center. Now serving a rural population, Lamm looks forward to continuing to do the work she loves. “Patients will receive the care and attention women deserve and desire as they interact with the healthcare system,” she stated. “They will be equipped, empowered and supported in obtaining optimal health through the integration of holistic modalities.”

Lamm earned a Master of Science degree in midwifery from the State University of New York at Downstate, Brooklyn, NY and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from The College of New Rochelle, NY. She spent seven years of her nursing career as a Labor and Delivery RN at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. When asked what motivated her to focus on women’s health and ultimately become a CNM she reflected back to a nursing school assignment requiring students to assess the key issues outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development goals, United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (unric.org).

“I quickly noticed the large number of women around the world that faced major challenges during pregnancy and childbirth,” Lamm stated, “I wanted to help.”

The WHC accepts most private insurances, Medicare, and medical assistance. A sliding-fee scale is offered to those who qualify. To make an appointment with Lamm in Pike County, call either 570-775-8838 or Women’s Health Center’s Main office at 570-253-3005.
