HONESDALE PEDIATRIC CENTER WELCOMES NEW PHYSICIAN

HONESDALE PEDIATRIC CENTER WELCOMES NEW PHYSICIAN

Honesdale, PA (September 23, 2025) — Shristi Kharel, MD, says Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers’ (WMCHC) mission of providing compassionate, accessible care to families persuaded her to accept a position as the newest pediatrician at the Honesdale Pediatric Center. The Center is one of four pediatric offices managed by WMCHC across Wayne and Pike Counties.

“I truly value the mission of this organization,” stated Dr. Kharel indicating it aligns closely with her own values as a pediatrician.

Dr. Kharel offers comprehensive health care for children of all ages, from newborn up to age 18. She acts as a child’s primary care provider by offering well visits, sick care, developmental screenings, immunizations and management of chronic conditions.

Dr. Kharel brings over five years of pediatric experience — both internationally and in the U.S. — to WMCHC patients. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree in Pediatrics from Nepalgunj Medical College, Kathmandu University in Nepal. She completed her U.S. pediatric residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Elmhurst, NY and also attended the Boston University School of Medicine where she studied pediatric nutrition. Dr. Kharel is passionate about her work and looks forward to calling Northeastern Pennsylvania her new home.

“Caring for children feels deeply meaningful to me—not only helping them heal but also supporting their families. From my early training abroad to my residency here, every experience with young patients has strengthened my commitment and confirmed that pediatrics is where I truly belong,” stated Dr. Kharel.
