Fulfilling Ambitions with WMH and Project SEARCH

(Honesdale, November 13, 2025)…“I’m so glad Wayne Memorial Hospital welcomes the Project SEARCH Program,” said Taylor Ellis, instructor, Project SEARCH.

Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) provides a hands-on learning experience during the school year as an integral part of the program. Project SEARCH is a nationally recognized program that prepares individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities for competitive employment and independent living.

All of last year’s graduates successfully transitioned in their path forward to employment and higher education. Sophia is advancing her skills at Massage Therapy school. All the others have attained employment including two at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Dominick works in the kitchen and Austin is a porter on the Environmental Services team. Instructor Ellis is employed with Wayne Highlands School District and James Giacobbe is a Skills Training Rehab Specialist, employed with Living Unlimited.

Once hired, they receive support as apprentices through Living Unlimited, until it’s no longer necessary. Currently, the ninth year of Project SEARCH at WMH is underway with eight high school interns.
