Honesdale, PA (November 14, 2017)—Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) is pleased to announce that Certified Family Nurse Practitioner April Alexander has joined the staff of the largest of its nine primary care practices. She is seeing patients at Highland Physicians Family Health Center located at 1839 Fair Avenue, Honesdale, PA.

Alexander worked as a Registered Nurse for five years before completing the education and clinical experience required to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She earned her bachelor’s and associate degrees in Nursing from Penn State University and ultimately a master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner graduating with a GPA of 3.97. Alexander was most recently employed as a Registered Nurse in Honesdale at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s acute rehabilitation and medical/surgical units.

“I always knew I wanted to pursue being a Nurse Practitioner, but I tried to focus on one goal at a time,” stated Alexander adding she was motivated by the desire to always set a good example for her family. In her new role as a Nurse Practitioner, Alexander will have the opportunity to assist people in obtaining their health goals and is most excited to be the one to “congratulate them on their accomplishments.”

WMCHC Executive Director Frederick Jackson is grateful to be adding a provider to the center’s roster, “the Highland Family practice has faced tremendous demands from the community for service.  This coupled with staff turnovers has created extended wait times for some patients. The physicians and administrative leadership hope the addition of April, coupled with other recruiting and staffing initiatives, will alleviate the recent access issues.”
