New Board Certified Family Physician at Carbondale Family Health Center
Honesdale, PA (August 24, 2020)—The Carbondale Family Health Center, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), welcomes Board Certified Family Physician Terry J. Luma, MD. He joins Kenneth Bannon, PA-C and Sharon Savakinas, PA-C at the Health Center located at 141 Salem Avenue. Dr. Luma treats people of all ages and is currently accepting new patients.
Dr. Luma says while his “favorite patient population is kids” he enjoys “delivering ongoing comprehensive primary care to people of all ages and genders.” His philosophy of medicine, whether offering preventative, acute, chronic, mental health or women’s health care is “to take a whole person, patient-centered approach.” He is also committed to “providing patients with the tools they need to achieve their best health.”
Dr. Luma received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine, Dominica, West Indies. He completed his internship and residency in family medicine at Hackensack UMC Mountainside Hospital in Verona, NJ. He earned his undergraduate degree at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI. Prior to relocating to northeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Luma was employed at Sanford Health in Bemidji, MN for four years where he offered primary care, urgent care, adult and pediatric hospitalist coverage and conducted nursing home rounding.

Most major insurances, managed care plans, Medicare and Medical Assistance are accepted. A sliding fee scale is also offered to those who qualify. Select Saturday hours, 9 am to 2 pm, have recently been added. Patients are encouraged to “call ahead” to be seen on a Saturday.
