Wayne Memorial to Offer Help with new Health Insurance Marketplace

Honesdale, PA (October 13, 2020) — Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers’ Outreach & Enrollment office stands ready to help consumers find health insurance when a state-based system called pennie.com replaces the federal government’s healthcare.gov November 1st.   Staff formerly referred to as Coordinators will be known instead as Exchange Assisters who have trained and registered with the PA Insurance Department.

“Health insurance plans on pennie.com will offer a variety of coverage and payment options,” stated Laura Resti, assister, Outreach and Enrollment, WMCHC. “We encourage those needing our help finding out what’s new and which is the right plan for them to contact us as soon as possible to make a telephone appointment.”

Resti went on to explain that open enrollment begins November 1, 2020 and is extended until January 15, 2021, an additional 4 weeks from previous years under healthcare.gov. However, in order to have coverage effective January 1, 2021, eligible consumers must have coverage selected and first payment made by December 15, 2020.

Outreach and Enrollment services remain free of charge to everyone, not just patients of WMCHC physician practices. However, one notable change for this year is the increase in telephone appointment availability due to safety restrictions brought on by COVID-19. All appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling 570-251-6569 or 570-251-6554. Only a limited number of in-person appointments will be offered. Masking is required and precautions such as Plexiglas barriers are in place.

“We’re still here to help,” added Resti. “We just have a few new obstacles to overcome this year.”

For more information, call either 570-251-6554 or 570-251-6569 or visit wmchc.net and search Outreach and Enrollment.
