Sterling Pediatric Center Welcomes Larryl Damon, Jr., DO

 Honesdale, PA (September 9, 2020) — The Sterling Pediatric Center, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), welcomes Larryl Damon, Jr., DO, to its roster of pediatricians and advanced care pediatric practitioners. Dr. Damon sees patients from newborn to 18 years old for outpatient care at the Lake Ariel office located at 62 Industrial Park Road.

Dr. Damon says he chose a career with Wayne Memorial because he “wanted to be in an environment that seemed like a home. Being able to work with others and feel like not just a number but a colleague is important.” He added, “I wanted to join an organization where I felt I could grow, not only in my career intellectually, but also emotionally and spiritually. I feel I have found that.”

Dr. Damon earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Goryeb Children’s Hospital/Atlantic Health in Morristown, NJ. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Albright College, Reading, PA where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

He was inspired to become a pediatrician at the age of 11 having been influenced by his own physician at the time. A woman he describes as possessing “a wonderful bedside manner” and “made me feel special.” Dr. Damon continued, “In addition, she was African American. I loved her demeanor and knew at that moment I aspired to become a doctor. I have always loved children and feel this career allows me to have a positive impact on children.”

The Sterling site is one of three pediatric outpatient centers operated by WMCHC. The others, situated in Honesdale and Waymart, also offer comprehensive pediatric care including well-and sick-child visits, immunizations, and medical evaluation and treatment of chronic conditions. Dr. Damon is currently conducting office visits at the Honesdale and Waymart sites as well.
