(Honesdale, May 10, 2013)…National Nurses Week, May 6-12, found the nurses at Wayne Memorial Hospital graciously accepting free meals, fresh flowers, cake and ice cream—all donated by local businesses and the nurse managers themselves.

(Honesdale, May 6, 2013)… Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 2pm Wayne Memorial’s Hospice Department will host a spring memorial service at Grace Episcopal Church in Honesdale to remember hospice patients who have passed away in the last several months.

(Honesdale, April 24, 2013)… Non-profit groups seeking funding may qualify for a Community Mini-Grant from the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation (WMHF).

(Honesdale, April 22, 2013)… “It’s the right thing to do,” says Carol Brennan, dietetic technician and Certified Dietary Manager of Nutrition and Food Services at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Brennan, her staff and supervisor John Conte, director of Facility Services, are on a mission to ban Styrofoam forever from hospital food services. They have replaced Styrofoam soup containers with china bowls and Styrofoam take-out containers with molded fiber boxes that come in two sizes.

Honesdale, PA (April 19, 2013)— Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner Linda Lane, MSN-CRNP, recently began seeing adult patients at the Behavioral Health Center, an outpatient treatment facility offering behavioral and mental health services for adults, adolescents and children. The Behavioral Health Center is part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), a clinical affiliate of Wayne Memorial Health System, Inc.

 

(Honesdale, PA, April 8, 2013)… Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Volunteer Coordinator Joyce Malicky is the latest in the hospital family to assume a top state post, in this case President of the Pennsylvania Society of Directors of Volunteer Services in Healthcare (PSDVS).

(Honesdale, April 10, 2013)…Bone density testing is now available at the Pike County Medical Center in Lords Valley and electrocardiograms (EKG) are now being done at the Wayne Memorial Outpatient Center in Waymart on Route 6. Both services are enhancements to the current facilities.

(Honesdale, April 12, 2013) — The Behavioral Health Center, an outpatient treatment facility offering behavioral and mental health services for adults, adolescents and children welcomes Michele Slowey, MSN-CRNP to its staff. As a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner with a background in psychiatry, Slowey, sees adult patients for evaluation, diagnosis, medication management and counseling referrals.

(Honesdale, April 10, 2013)…Wayne Memorial Hospital is offering a six-week workshop designed to provide education and support in coping with the grieving process. The workshop will focus on grief as a normal part of an individual’s transition through life. 
     

(Honesdale, March 30, 2013)… “It’s just a really nice thing to get a plant,” said Wayne Memorial Hospital patient Gladys Jennings of Hawley. Jennings was one of close to 200 people who received an Easter pansy recently from the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

(Honesdale, March 29, 2013) … Wayne Memorial Hospital, Geisinger Health System and Evangelical Community Hospital have partnered to form Keystone Accountable Care Organization, one of 106 new accountable care organizations (ACOs) for patients with Medicare, as recently announced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Honesdale, PA (March 27, 2013)— The Together for Health Dental Center (TFHDC), part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), is utilizing its new portable equipment to bring preventive dental care to children enrolled in area Head Start programs. (Honesdale, March 21, 2013)… On March 11, Wayne Memorial Cardiac Rehabilitation Coordinator Nadine Greco, MS, and colleagues in the rehabilitation field were recognized by Governor Thomas Corbett (R ), who proclaimed the week of March 10-16 Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week. The governor also proclaimed retroactively the week of February 10-16 Cardiac Rehabilitation Week.

Carbondale, PA (March 19, 2013)— The Carbondale Family Health Center, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), will be extending primary care physician services to include Wednesday evenings and select Saturdays with the addition of Board Certified Internist David Yatsonsky, M.D. to its existing staff.

Honesdale, PA (February 26, 2013) -- The Yellowbook phone directory for Wayne County 2013-2014 has numerous listing errors for Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers and its physicians. Errors range from incorrect telephone numbers to physicians listed under the wrong specialties. Mistakes appear in both the white and yellow pages.

 

(Honesdale, February 14, 2013)…Wayne Memorial Hospital is proud to announce that its Laboratory Services, which processed 314,906 specimens in 2012 from more than 30 different facilities, has once again been accredited by the American College of Pathologists (CAP).  

(Honesdale, February 20, 2013)…It was the most successful Mistletoe Ball in the history of the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, netting $22,200 for the non-profit hospital and its services, including its maternity unit, New Beginnings.
