Dr. David Tomazic Merges Practice with Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers
Effective January 30th, Dr. Tomazic, along with his current office staff, will see patients at the McAndrew Family Health Center, 111 Main Street in Vandling. He’ll be joining Krista Hollis, CRNP, who has been with the McAndrew Family Health Center since 2013.
“Dr. Tomazic has been treating residents from the Forest City area for decades,” stated Frederick Jackson, executive director, WMCHC. “We’re proud to help perpetuate such outstanding patient care by having him join our staff.”
Dr. Tomazic is a true native son, having graduated from Forest City Regional High School. He then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Villanova University and a Medical Degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship at Allentown Osteopathic Hospital and residency in Family Medicine at Williamsport Hospital. Dr. Tomazic spent nearly 30 years as an active medical staff member of the former Marian Community Hospital in Carbondale prior to its closure in 2012. He continues to serve as the Medical Director of the Forest City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as he has since 1982. He recently stepped down as Medical Director of the State Correctional Institute in Waymart after 13 years.
Acknowledging today’s challenges for a solo practitioner, such as “insurance demands,” Dr. Tomazic feels confident about partnering with Wayne Memorial. “WMCHC has a great reputation in the community,” he said, “and my association with the organization can only prove to be a positive endeavor.”
“We are hoping for a seamless transition,” stated Margaret Tomazic, RN, Tomazic practice manager. “All medical records will automatically be transferred. Therefore, no action is required on the part of our patients. We mostly need to stress that we’re in a new location and can be reached by phone at 570-785-3194 after January 30th.”
WMCHC resumed management of the late Dr. Patrick McAndrew’s medical practice, renamed the McAndrew Family Health Center, in 2012. According to Jackson, “We’ve remained committed to the provision of healthcare in the Forest City area. Merging the two practices will help solidify that commitment.”
