Wayne Memorial Launches Mobile Audiology
Wayne Memorial Hearing Solutions kicked off the new service by offering free hearing screenings at the Wayne County Fair earlier this month. Audiologist Robert Gwyn, AuD, performed more than 200 screenings in the new van, which is equipped with a soundproof audiology booth and other equipment.
“We offer the same services in the van, on the road that we offer in our clinic on Main Street in Honesdale,” said Gwyn, “and we truly believe this will be a valuable service throughout the community, especially to those who may face transportation challenges getting to our clinic.”
The mobile audiology services include:
• Hearing Aid Selection and Fitting
• Hearing aid checks and repairs
• Loaner hearing aids
• Hearing aid reprogramming or modifications
• Hearing assessment
• Recommendation and installation of assistive listening devices
• Hearing protection devices
• Communication training and counseling
“Thanks to a private grant, our audiology services are now mobile,” said James Hockenbury, director Ancillary Services. “Bob Gwyn has been with Wayne Memorial for 25 years and offers superior service. He cares deeply about his patients and is focused on quality and patient satisfaction.”
Gwyn plans to offer the mobile audiology services initially at Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers in Carbondale, Hamlin and Lords Valley in September. For more information about the schedule or to make an appointment, please call (570) 470-8857 or phone the clinic at (570) 253-7323.
