Kara Poremba, RN Becomes Healthy Beginnings Plus Coordinator
Pennsylvania’s Healthy Beginnings Plus program promotes a positive pregnancy experience for low-income women by helping them apply for Medical Assistance, ensuring access to traditional medical and obstetric services, as well as addressing psychosocial needs.
Poremba expresses enthusiasm about her new role, “I am excited to help make a difference in the lives of my patients and help their babies get the best start possible,” she stated. “I have always had an interest in using my nursing skills to better the community and believe this is the perfect opportunity to do so.”
Pregnant women in need of PA Medical Assistance benefits, even those whose incomes are above the normal eligibility guidelines, are encouraged to contact one of the Healthy Beginnings Plus Coordinators at 570-253-3005 or 1-800-869-6636. Temporary benefits can be arranged during the first visit.
