(Honesdale, August 17, 2010)…Pediatrician Monika Pek, MD, recently joined the staff of the Honesdale Family Health Center (HFHC), a Wayne Memorial Community Health Center. Located in the Stourbridge Complex, the HFHC offers primary care and pediatric services to everyone in the community.

(Honesdale, August 27, 2010)… Kathleen Feik, 62, of Honesdale is one of 10 breast cancer survivors on this year’s Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s Gallery of Hope display about survivors of this devastating disease. The display is currently on exhibit at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

(Honesdale, July 26, 2010)… When asked why he came to Honesdale from Maine 27 years ago to practice medicine, Dr. William Davis joked, “I wanted to be in a big town.” Kidding aside, Dr. Davis and Dr. Chang S. Lim, who arrived in Honesdale two years later, both agreed it’s been a good long ride—and now, it’s time to retire.

(Honesdale, July 9, 2010)…Registered Nurse Pat Batten was all smiles as she was honored for 40 years of service at Wayne Memorial Hospital, most of them spent in Maternity or Pediatrics. “I love caring for people,” said Batten, as she enjoyed a group hug from fellow OB/Pediatrics nurses.

(Lake Como, PA, June 22,2010)…A ribbon cutting ceremony, barbecue and block party for the new Northern Wayne Family Health Center (NWFHC) drew an estimated 300 people to the small village of Lake Como on Saturday, June 19th. The event also included a 1.9 mile “Fun Walk” to benefit the Lakewood Food Pantry, which is housed in the new center. Donations garnered mostly through pledges tallied $3,000 by day’s end, when a big check was presented to Pantry Director Ruth Wenk.

(Honesdale, May 17, 2010)… Wayne Memorial Health System welcomed Donna Getts-Marich, BSW, to its Long-Term Care family this spring. Donna assumed the post of Administrator at Wayne Delaware Manor, the System’s personal care home in Beach Lake.

Baskets of goodies—fruits and cheese and other delights—were delivered to Wayne Memorial Hospital (WMH) nursing units on May 12th, the last day of National Nurses’ Week.

(Honesdale, May 6, 2010)…E. Suzanna Yoo, MD, a psychiatrist certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology is now seeing patients at the Behavioral Health Center, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC). Dr. Yoo treats adults and children; she also has a special interest in geriatric psychiatry. “Our hearts here at Behavioral Health are with our patients,” says Dr. Yoo.
