The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is one of the strongest healthcare auxiliary organizations in Pennsylvania. The purpose of the Auxiliary is to work with the Board of Trustees, its authorized committees and Wayne Memorial Health System's Chief Executive Officer to further public relations, provide volunteer services within Wayne Memorial Health System and its subsidiary corporations and to raise funds for the enhancement of healthcare.

The Auxiliary's 200-plus members operate the hospital's gift shop, The Gift Box, as well as a consignment store, The Other Shop in Honesdale and a thrift shop, The Other Shop II in Hawley. By organizing numerous events during the year, the Auxiliary raises money for the hospital while giving back to the community. The Auxiliary’s biggest events include its annual Holiday Love Lites ceremony, the Mistletoe Ball and Showtime at the Ritz.

In 2005, the Auxiliary's 210 members pledged $570,000 to Wayne Memorial Hospital's capital campaign, Operation Vital Signs, and by so doing, became the largest single contributor to the campaign. They earned the right to name the hospital's private women's mammography and ultrasound center, which opened in 2006, the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Women's Imaging Center.

The Auxiliary is a great way to meet people and help a good cause at the same time.  As its members will attest, "It can also be a lot of fun!" 

MEMBERSHIP

Qualification for membership in the organization shall be in sympathy with the purposes of the organization and willingness to work towards its accomplishments. Prospective members are welcome at any meeting.

Here are the types of members in the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary

1) Active members shall pay annual dues and participate in the active service programs of the Auxiliary.

2) Associate members have been active members, shall pay annual dues and signify an interest in the purposes of the Auxiliary.

3) Honorary members have served as active members of the Auxiliary for 35 years and may have the option of not paying dues.

DUES

As of 2011, the dues remain $5 a year.

The Roaring Twenties are coming to Ehrhardt’s on the Waterfront on Saturday, January 21, 2012. It’s this year’s theme for the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s 71st annual Mistletoe Ball.

(Honesdale, PA, December 20, 2011)…“Why, thank you!” Lois Garrett, a patient at Wayne Memorial Hospital, was clearly surprised when a member of the hospital’s Auxiliary handed her a lush potted plant on Monday, December 19th.

(Honesdale, October 31, 2011)…The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxliary is sponsoring a “Books Are Fun” sale at the hospital on Friday, November 11th, from 10am – 4pm.

Honor a loved one living or in memory of someone passed on with a gift of a "love lite" on the trees outside Wayne Memorial Hospital.  Each Love Lite cost $5 and the names of your loved ones will be displayed in a book in the hospital lobby until January 2012.  A ceremony to officially  light up the tree will take place ...

The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has awarded its first ever nursing scholarship to Stacey Sutton-Jackson, a nurse aide at the hospital currently pursuing an education to be a registered nurse. The $1,000 scholarship was designed specifically for a student in his or her second and final year of nursing at Wayne Memorial’s new School of Nursing, an affiliation with Luzerne County Community College. Stacey fit the bill!
