(November 10, 2004)... James Pettinato, RN, the head nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department received a special statewide honor. The Pennsylvania Emergency Health Services Council (PHESC) awarded Pettinato its prestigious Mildred K. Fincke Nursing Award. On October 11, word came in the Wayne County On the Move’s 29 teams had already reached their goal of a virtual walk to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Now, 25 days into the October challenge, the 29 On the Move teams are already on their 5th virtual trip to visit that big-eared mouse and his goofy friends in Florida.

Honesdale, PA October 15, 2004)—"Our ‘virtual’ walk to Disney turned into more of a run," reported Margaret Ennis, Coordinator of Wayne County On the Move. Ennis recently received the pleasant surprise that as of October 11, Wayne County On the Move’s 29 teams had already completed their 1,117 virtual walk to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The "walk" was completed almost three weeks ahead of schedule.

(Honesdale, October 13, 2004)… As of today, Wayne Memorial’s Home Health Department says staff will continue to administer flu vaccinations at pre-scheduled clinics in Hamlin, Damascus and Waymart. Doses, however, are limited, due to a national shortage. About 100 people had to be turned away from a clinic today at the Hawley Senior Center.
