(HONESDALE PA, June 30, 2005)…Wayne Memorial Hospital’s main driveway on Park Street will be open for traffic during construction of a new driveway, but WMH officials say anyone using the drive should “exercise caution.” Work will begin on the alterations either late next week or the beginning of the following week (July 11th).
The new driveway, just to the left of the present vehicle entrance, will accommodate traffic for the new Emergency Department building currently under construction.
“Although construction will be close to the existing entrance, cars will still be permitted to go through,” says John Conte, WMH Director of Facility Services. “We want to assure the public the front doors of the Hospital will be accessible for dropping off or picking up patients and other visitors.”
During the construction the crosswalk on Park Street will be moved back to its original place, under the blinking yellow pedestrian light. A new pathway will lead up to the Hospital’s entrance. Conte adds that everything possible is being done to maintain normal access to the Hospital for patients, visitors and employees during this year of construction. ###
