This is our home.” That’s how Justin O’Donnell explains his family foundation’s pledge of $100,000 to Wayne Memorial Hospital’s capital campaign, Operation Vital Signs. O’Donnell and his wife, Marilyn, are trustees of the O’Donnell Family Foundation.
“We strongly support Wayne Memorial ,” says O’Donnell, “and try to be helpful in every way we can—both financially and with whatever experience we’ve had that we can offer.” O’Donnell, who served as Chief Executive Officer of First Virginia Bank before he retired to northeast Pennsylvania, has lived up to his word. He has served voluntarily on the board of Wayne Memorial Hospital, a non-profit community hospital, for eight years. He currently holds the office of Treasurer on the board.
“Justin has been a pivotal influence in the direction Wayne Memorial has taken in the last decade,” says David Hoff, Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Memorial Health System. “And we’re thrilled that the O’Donnells continue to support Wayne Memorial so wholeheartedly. They understand that quality healthcare is essential to the survival of our county.”
The O’Donnells say they both “derive benefit” from Wayne Memorial’s accessibility in the community, particularly in the rural northern part of the county where they live. At the nearby Lakewood Medical Center, part of Wayne Memorial’s Community Health Concern, Dr. Robert Dohner recently renewed his contract with WMHS—to the joy of surrounding residents such as the O’Donnells.
