(Honesdale, January 2, 2006)…If you resolve to walk more in 2006, you better take care of your feet! Studies show leg or foot pain is one of the primary reasons people stop walking within one month after making that New Year’s resolution. Find out how to “keep your foundation firm” by maintaining healthy fit feet. A free presentation will be offered by longtime local podiatrist Dr. Edward Murray and Wayne Memorial’s Hospital’s In-School Winter Walking program. Dr. Murray will offer tips aimed at winter walkers.
“You can’t go anywhere without a good foundation,” says Dr. Murray, “and your feet are your foundation for health!”
Dr. Murray will answer questions on everything from bunions and corns to calluses, hammertoe and ingrown toenails. He’ll cover the impact of diabetes and arthritis on exercise and vice versa. Expect to hear helpful tips for walkers with these special conditions.
Here are a few helpful tips to get you started on your walking program in 2006:
1. Daily: wash your feet in warm water. Dry especially between your toes.
