“I like to help people.” That’s why, says Wallenpaupack Area High School senior Jessica Strasser, she wants to go into nursing. Jessica was one of four local students who received a Nursing Education Scholarship from the Victoria T. Robinson Trust Fund and the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Strasser will use her $1,000 scholarship to attend the Pennsylvania College of Technology. She’s seen here outside Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she is completing an academic internship, with other recipients and members of the Hospital Auxiliary’s Scholarship Committee. “In view of a national nursing shortage and rising college costs, we are especially pleased that we can award these scholarships,” says Auxilian Rebecca Murray, “and we are very thankful, too, that the individuals behind the Victoria T. Robinson Trust fund support our efforts.” Pictured left to right: Murray; Crista McGraw, Hancock Central School, $2000 for Marywood University; Tiffany Staton, Wallenpaupack Area High School, potentially $1000 for California University of Pennsylvania; Jessica Strasser; Margaret Ruddy, Wallenpaupack Area High School, $2000 for College Misericordia; Pam Wilson, WMH Auxiliary; Peggy Pender, WMH Auxiliary.
