“We sell home medical equipment—wheelchairs, transport chairs, hospital beds, commodes, sleep apnea products, oxygen, oxygen tanks. You name it, we either have it or we’ll get it for you!”  Barrie Latzko, RN and Manager of Wayne Health Services, is proud of her operation and its salespeople. In April of this year, Wayne Health Services, a retail outlet owned by the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation, marked two decades of service to the community.

            Latzko, pictured with staffer Carolyn Urban helping a customer, Louis Miller of Prompton, has been with Wayne Health for 15 years. Some of her 10 employees have been with her almost as long—like Debbie Olver (“my insurance guru”) and Becky Robinson. Robinson, seen in the background of the photo, does post-mastectomy fittings in a private, nicely-appointed room at the back of Wayne Health’s store at the Stourbridge Mall, Honesdale.  

            “I enjoy talking to the women, hearing their stories and helping them,” says Robinson.

            When she’s not in the private fitting room helping a customer, Robinson may be doing private fittings in a customer’s home or at another hospital such as Barnes Kasson in Susquehanna. Wayne Health offers in-home consultations and evaluations to make sure equipment is appropriate for a patient’s needs.

            “The Wayne Memorial Health Foundation opened Wayne Health Services as part of Wayne Memorial Health System’s commitment to a continuum of care,” said David Hoff Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Memorial Health System. “And we congratulate Wayne Health Services on its 20^th—many more!”
