Click here for a larger view (Honesdale, February 16, 2007)…If you have driven by Pediatric Practices of Northeastern Pennsylvania (PPNP) on Fair Avenue in Honesdale, you may have noticed a banner hanging out front announcing 30 years of providing pediatric care. PPNP is celebrating the milestone, along with the launch of its website, www.pediatricpractices.com, and the opening of a new office in Waymart.
“Our practice has grown considerably over three decades, but the heart of what we do hasn’t changed. We are still committed to helping families grow and stay healthy,” says PPNP Office Manager Linda Penwarden. “And now that we cover such a large geographic area, our website helps our patients and their families stay in touch with our services at any time.”
PPNP, which offers pediatric care to infants, children and adolescents up to the age of 18, today has four offices in Wayne, Pike and Lackawanna Counties. It started out as one office, opened by Dr. Alan Kohrt, in July, 1976 in Tafton. The practice, then called Child Health Associates began as part of the Public Health Service Corporation. Dr. Carl Milks joined Dr. Kohrt in 1979. A second office was opened in Honesdale, and a third in Carbondale.
Dr. Robert Morton, who is still with PPNP, joined the practice in 1984. Shortly thereafter, another office was opened in Hamlin.
In 1990, Dr. Paul Diamond came on board, and the Honesdale office was relocated from Park Street in Honesdale to its present location on Fair Avenue. The practice name was permanently changed to Pediatric Practices of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
