Veterans are always giving back—that was a message that came through loud and clear at Wayne Memorial Hospital, when the Hogencamp/Schupper Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 531 offered to sponsor a hike at Prompton Dam Park to benefit the hospital’s capital campaign, Operation Vital Signs. More than 30 people showed up for the walk on May 6th, helping to raise $600 for the campaign. Pictured at the check presentation, left to right: Jean Tuttle, WMH Community Relations; G. Richard Garman, Executive Director of the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation; Michael O’Hara, Commander VFW Post 531, Joseph Maressa, Post Quarter Master; David Hoff, WMH Chief Executive Officer; Donna Decker, RN/WMH Community Health Manager; and Kate Carmody, member of the WMH Foundation Board of Trustees. Plans are afoot – pun intended—to repeat the hike next year.
Among the World War I soldiers to whom the hospital’s founding was originally dedicated were Millard Hogencamp and Robert E. Schupper.
