“This is a worthy cause. The camp does good work.” That was the general consensus among physicians on the Wayne Memorial Hospital Medical Staff when they voted to donate $1,000 to Dyberry Day Camp for this summer’s session. The Day Camp serves the local chapter of The Arc, a national organization dedicated to helping mentally and developmentally challenged individuals. Close to 50 youngsters, aged 5 to 21, are expected to attend the 20-day session at Dyberry in July. “It’s one month of leisure time activity that really means a lot to the campers and their families,” says Ginny Motsko, President of the local Arc chapter. “The kids get to do things they otherwise would not be able to do.” The camp is also supported by three “bike or hike” fundraising events organized by students at Honesdale High School, Wallenpaupack HS and Damascus HS.
