WMH To Host Free Prostate/Breast Cancer Screenings, Seminar

(Honesdale, October10, 2007)… More new cases of prostate and breast cancer will be diagnosed in men and women respectively this year than any other cancer, according to the American Cancer Society. And the two cancers are both second for claiming lives, after lung cancer for both genders. Early detection of breast and prostate cancer can help victims fight both diseases successfully.  Find out more about breast and prostate cancer at a free His & Hers Health Seminar/Screening on Tuesday, October 16th at Wayne Memorial Hospital.  Registration and optional PSA (Prostate-specific Antigen) test at 6pm, seminar at 6:30pm, screenings begin at 7:30pm.

      Dr. Samuel Lesko of the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute, urologist Dr. Rafael Lopez and obstetrician-gynecologist Dr. Pedro Mencia will all present educational seminars.  Digital rectal/prostate exams will be offered for the men and clinical breast exams for the women.

      Women will be given clear instructions on self breast exams, which are recommended monthly. 

      Tours of the new Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Women’s Imaging Center and refreshments will also be available.
