The local business owner was talking about a Bowl-a-thon planned for Sunday, October 14th, at Gravity Alley in Honesdale. Proceeds will benefit Wayne Memorial Hospital’s new Auxiliary Women’s Imaging Center.
The Bowl-a-thon will offer free refreshments, t-shirts and awards for top bowlers—all graciously donated by local businesses—but the real “prize” will come later, Carmody added, “when players realize their participation in this Bowl-a-thon will help save lives.”
Carmody is a member of the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board of Trustees and, most significantly, a breast cancer survivor. The Bowl-a-thon was largely her idea. “The money raised will go towards the purchase of digital mammography equipment,” she explained. “And we hope that will encourage more women to get their annual mammograms.
“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So come, it’ll be a fun time!”
