Spreading the warmth: Representatives of a women’s knitting group at Woodloch Springs, Hawley, raffled off one of their handmade afghans and donated the money to Wayne Memorial Hospital. JoAnn Sweet and Dorothy Hollman presented a check for $360 to David Hoff, Chief Executive Officer of Wayne Memorial Hospital and G. Richard Garman, Director of Wayne Memorial Health Foundation a check. The woman’s knitting group would like the funds to go towards the purchase of digital mammography equipment at the hospital. “We’re all ladies and it seemed appropriate,” said one member. The two hospital officials were very grateful for the donation and said it will certainly help other women. For three years the knitting group has enthusiastically put their talent to work for the community. Another project included making warm hats and scarves for Queen of Peace Church, Hawley, to give to the homeless. The afghan raffle was held at several Woodloch events.
