(Honesdale, May 21, 2008)… Walk-in patients will be accepted on Saturdays at the Honesdale Family Health Center, starting June 7th and later this summer the Together for Health Dental Center will be offering adult dental care for the first time.

      “This is exciting news for the community,” says Fred Jackson, Executive Director of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), which operates both the Honesdale clinic and the dental center. WMCHC is a federally qualified health center, supported in part by the federal government. Its centers offer quality healthcare to everyone. They accept private insurances as well as public assistance and offer sliding fee scales for those without any insurance.

      WMCHC also includes a Behavioral Health Center, the Pike County Family Health Center and the Lakewood Family Health Center.

      The Honesdale Family Health Center at the Stourbridge Professional Complex on Maple Avenue opened its doors in January with Melissa Rickard, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Family Practice physicians Dr. Robert Dohner and Dr. Bradley Layton also see patients at the center.

      “The addition of Saturday hours will greatly enhance the convenience of the Honesdale Family Health Center for patients who work during the week or families with children in school,” Jackson adds. “Our goal has always been to improve access to healthcare.”

      Another dentist has also been hired for The Together for Health Dental Center, also at the Stourbridge Complex. The Center, which currently has three dentists, has been offering services only to young people since 1998. Later this summer, adults will also be accepted.
