Wayne Memorial Hospital capped its successful capital campaign, Operation Vital Signs with a donor appreciation dinner at Lake Bryn Mawr Camp and Conference Center in Honesdale on June 11. The featured speaker was Carolyn Scanlan, President and CEO of the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP), an advocacy organization for 250 Pennsylvania hospitals. Scanlan, “one of the 25 most powerful women in healthcare today,” according to Wayne Memorial CEO David Hoff, spoke about the Hospital’s “remarkable progress,” made possible in part by the capital campaign. The Hospital added a 30,000 square foot building in 2005, which includes a new expanded Emergency Department, a Sleep Medicine Laboratory and an inpatient rehabilitation unit. Close to 200 people attended the dinner. The capital campaign exceeded its $3 million pledge goal by approximately, $50,000. “And many of the items at our appreciation dinner were also donated,” reported G. Richard Garman, Executive Director of the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation.
