(Honesdale, August 8, 2008)… Strong family ties helped bring Stephen Cahoon, Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) back to the Honesdale area from his native California. Cahoon’s wife, Registered Nurse Susan Decker Cahoon, hails from Damascus and has numerous relatives in the area. Both had worked at Wayne Memorial Hospital several years earlier.
“We went to California for awhile, but we left with the prospect of coming back. It was always our plan,” says Cahoon.
Cahoon, who joined Pediatric Practices in July, fulfilled his undergraduate degree at Bob Jones University in South Carolina. He received a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from King’s College in Wilkes Barre in 2004. During his training, Cahoon obtained clinical experience at various locations in northeastern Pennsylvania, including Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock and Highland Physicians in Honesdale. He worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department for four years before beginning entering King’s College.
