(Honesdale, October 8, 20078)… On October 22
nd, one of the “most powerful people in healthcare” will visit Wayne Memorial Hospital to speak to the hospital’s Board of Trustees, members of its Patient Safety Committee and medical staff. James Orlikoff, a Senior Consultant for the Center for Healthcare Governance and the author of award-winning and best-selling books on healthcare governance, will make a presentation and take questions, beginning at 10am.
For more than 25 years, Orlikoff has been involved in leadership, quality, and strategy issues. He has consulted with hospitals in six countries, and since 1985 has worked with hospital and system governing boards to strengthen their overall effectiveness and their oversight of strategy and quality. One of his many books, Board Work: Governing Health Care Organizations, won the American College of Healthcare Executives’ James A. Hamilton Book of the Year award for 2000.
Orlikoff was invited at the suggestion of Wayne Memorial Hospital/Health System Board Chairman Helge Mortensen, who had heard Orlikoff speak in Washington, DC earlier this year. “I was impressed with his dynamic and informative presentation,” said Mortensen. “I became convinced that he would enhance the quality of care we deliver at Wayne Memorial. Every improvement we make benefits our community.”
