They stood out by dressing down. These staffers from Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) and Wayne Memorial’s Business Office were invited by Dr. Robert Dohner, Medical Director of WMCHC, to donate money to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in return for a “casual Friday.” The Komen Foundation, started by the sister of a woman dying of breast cancer, is a grassroots organization dedicated to raising awareness about and finding a cure for this horrible disease. During October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the employees raised $414 for the Komen Foundation while enjoying dress down Fridays. They also put together bags with pamphlets and important information about breast cancer awareness and gave them out at WMCHC’s primary care services in Honesdale, Lakewood and Lords Valley. The centers accept private insurance, medical assistance and reduced fees for income-eligible patients. For more information, call (570) 251-6672.
