Raymond Harrington III and his wife Laurie had chosen not to know their baby’s gender before birth. When little Raymond Vincent Harrington IV arrived in the world, at approximately 5:53am on January 2nd, his father let out a whoop—“It’s a boy!”  Dad Ray said that moment of surprise, the actual birth, is about “75% of the excitement of the whole process.”  Mom Laurie agreed. “I carried the baby for nine months. This, the big announcement, was his (dad’s) moment.”  The Honesdale couple, who also have a two year old daughter Lucy, were immediately showered with First Baby 2009 presents from the Hospital, including a gift card for Elegante’s Italian Restaurant. The baby was delivered by Dr. Catalina Dinu of Women’s Health Care of NEPA.  When asked if she wanted to announce anything else about the birth of her seven pound, six ounce, 21-inch long bundle of joy, Laurie said simply, “He’s perfect.”  Pictured left to right: Mary Jean Joyal, RN, Wayne Memorial Hospital; Ray Harrington; Lucy Harrington; Laurie Harrington holding baby Raymond.
