An emotional moment for Maureen Bartron, RN, Wayne Memorial Hospital’s Employee Health Nurse.  On December 20, 2008, at the Hospital’s annual holiday party at Woodloch Pines, Bartron was officially named Employee of the Year.  Bartron, who was February’s Employee of the Month (EOM), was “floored! What an honor!”  A WMH employee for 30 years (21 years as an ER nurse),  Bartron now leads orientations for new employees and keeps tabs on flu shots, tuberculosis tests and preventive screenings for all hospital employees. She’s the “go to” person when there’s an accident or illness issue. Chief Executive Officer David Hoff praised Bartron for her dedication and loyalty. “This award means I have the respect of my peers,” said Bartron. “They care that I am ‘Mother Maureen’ for 650-plus employees!” Bartron and her husband John have two grown daughters and live in Honesdale. She had been EOM, same month, 15 years earlier, but had never been tapped for Employee of the Year. Many at the holiday party were surprised to learn that. “She’s just so warm and welcoming,” said Joyce Malicky, Volunteer Services, “and always, always smiling.” That night, Bartron smiled—and cried!
