That happened only because the community supported my practice.”
Doreen Durante, a member of that community and a mother of four, backs up Dr. Dohner’s statement. “I never found a doctor so thorough!” says the Poyntelle mom. “Once, when my four-year-old had a fever, I called the office at 3am. The message service said someone else was on call that night, but I insisted Dr. Dohner call me back. And he did! Immediately.”
Dr. Dohner works with Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (CHC), a clinical affiliate of Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is also the Medical Director of CHC, which includes the Honesdale Family Health Center and the Pike County Family Health Center. Dohner, a graduate of Villanova University and the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, also works at the Honesdale Family Health Center. A Family Practice physician, he completed his residency at the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine.
Dr. Dohner practices currently out of the Leet Professional building in Lakewood, where he recently negotiated for more space to accommodate his growing practice. The local community has also asked Dr. Dohner and CHC to look at the Lake Como Community Hall as a possible practice location. Its owners are reportedly facing difficulties meeting the building’s operating costs. That facility currently houses the Lakewood Food Pantry and other activities.
“We are conducting a feasibility study to determine if the community hall is the right place for Dr. Dohner’s practice,” says
