They outdid themselves!  The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary’s Mistletoe Ball Committee transformed the Waterfront at Ehrhardt’s into a swinging “Winter Wonderland” on January 17th. It was the 68th year for this annual fundraiser. The venue has changed over the years, but it’s always recalled as a fun event. In the early days, the Mistletoe Ball would start with house parties leading up to the 10pm start of the Ball at the Armory. Dinner and alcoholic beverages were not served but dancing went on till 2am. This year cocktails began at 5:30pm, a delicious dinner at 6:30pm and the live upbeat music of Groove Train kept you dancing till midnight. “We thank everyone for their support,” said Mary Lou Radell, chair of the ball committee. Approximately $19,000 was raised through 208 ticket sales, generous donations and a silent auction of items graciously donated by area merchants and individuals. The Hospital’s medical staff underwrote the band’s expenses. The proceeds will go towards fulfilling the Auxiliary’s $570,000 pledge to the Hospital’s recent capital campaign.  According to David Hoff, CEO of Wayne Memorial Hospital, the Auxiliary’s financial support has helped our community hospital embrace the 21st century with a new Emergency Department, a Women’s Imaging Center and some of the most advanced technology in the state of Pennsylvania.
