Click here for a larger view (Honesdale, March 12, 2009)…Everyone is invited to celebrate the opening of the newest medical center in Wayne County, the Waymart Family Health Center. Located at the Wayne Woodlands complex in Waymart, the new health center is part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers, a federally qualified health center that offers healthcare to everyone. Lawrence Stepczak, MD, a board-certified internist, is accepting new patients.
An open house will be held on Thursday, March 19th, from 1-3pm. The public is invited to tour the new center, meet Dr. Stepczak and his staff, enjoy free hearing screenings, free chair massages, refreshments and giveaways.
The Wayne Woodlands Medical Complex includes the Waymart Family Health Center, Waymart Medical Center, which offers lab (blood draw) and x-ray services, and Wayne Woodlands Manor, a long-term care home and short-term rehabilitation center. Both are part of Wayne Memorial Health System. Pediatric Practices of Northeastern Pennsylvania and Delta Medix Urology also have offices on the site.
Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (CHC) accepts both private insurance and medical assistance. It also offers a sliding fee scale based on income. Since it was launched in January of 2008, CHC has opened two new centers in Honesdale and Waymart and expanded the Together for Health Dental Center to include adult care. In January, Women’s Health Care of NEPA joined CHC and shortly thereafter added a second certified nurse midwife, Sheela Porter-Smith. CHC also operates a behavioral health center in Honesdale and two other primary health care centers in Lakewood in northern Wayne County and the Pike Family Health Center in Lords Valley in Pike County.
