Pike County Family Health Center Responds
to H1N1 Vaccine Demand
Due to community demand, the Pike County Family Health Center, part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), will hold a third H1N1 clinic at no charge for anyone seeking the vaccination. Pre-registration is required. The clinic is Tuesday, February 23, 3pm-6pm, Pike County Family Health Center, Route 739, Lords Valley. Call (570) 775-7100 to register.
Health officials nationally and statewide report H1N1 influenza activity is low at the moment, but say flu viruses come in “waves” and the country could see another “spike.” The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is recommending the vaccination for everyone, including people age 65 years and older.

Pulmonology Practice Welcomes Physician Assistant
(Honesdale, December 14, 2009)…When Physician Assistant Megan Baumann joined the practice of Pulmonologist Sean McVeigh, MD, this fall, it was no accident. “I chose Pulmonology as my elective for my rotations,” said Baumann, “because several of my family members suffered from lung disease, including my mother. I have known for a long time that I wanted to focus on Pulmonology.”
Baumann was born in Rahway, New Jersey but raised in the Allentown, Pennsylvania area. She recently earned her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at King’s College in Wilkes Barre, where she also completed her undergraduate studies in an accelerated Bachelor of Science program.
“I have only been at Dr. McVeigh’s office for a short time,” Baumann continued, “and I really love it. I see patients who can’t breathe very well and after we evaluate and treat them, they come back and tell us that they can run around with their grandkids. It’s so nice to see that we can make such an impact in the lives of our patients”.
